Eligibility/Draft

ELIGIBILITY TO PARTICIPATE

1. To be eligible to participate in any youth sports program sponsored by the SCPRD, the participant must reside in Sumter County, Georgia, OR a bordering county.

2. If a child does not reside or attend school full-time in Sumter County, Georgia, they are not eligible to participate in post season District or State level GRPA tournament play. There are NO exceptions!

3. A child who resides and attends school full-time, outside of Sumter County, shall pay twice the published registration fee.

4. All participants must register on the standard registration form with the waiver and behavior of sportsmanship statements being signed by the parent.

5. All equipment from the previous activity must have been returned before participation in an additional sport is allowed.

6. In youth basketball, a player on a school team roster is ineligible for GRPA District and State level play.

7. In baseball, a player on a school team must wait until the school season is over before being eligible to play on the local level.

8. Any child wishing to participate after the registration deadline will be placed on a waiting list and will be taken in order, or an as needed basis.

9. No child will be traded or may change teams during the course of a season.

10. Participants may not request specific teams or coaches. All players, other than coaches' children, must go through the draft process. There will be no special considerations given for carpools, cousins, etc.

ALL-STAR TEAMS

1. The SCPRD will no longer be responsible for selecting all-star teams.

2. Any league coach that would like to put together a post-season team for GRPA competition may do so as long as they get their roster and a deposit check into the SCPRD prior to the District Entry Meeting.

3. The coach that is putting the team together for GRPA must have been a coach in our league.

4. If more than one team is formed, a local tournament may be needed to determine the representative for District level play.

5. The SCPRD has no say so in who is on the team and who is not, as long as all players meet GRPA eligibility requirements. The roster requirements are: All players must be the proper age and have the proper identification. All players must be residents and/or full time students in Sumter County. All players must have been an integral part of the local program.

6. The SCPRD will cover all entry fees into GRPA tournaments. This is the only financial obligation of the department. All other needed funds must be raised or paid by the participants.
